January 2022

CISS Teachings & Workshops Schedule (all teachings & appointments are virtual)

New this year is a monthly focus on the healing medicines Crying, Drawing/Painting, Singing, Writing/Praying, Talking, Dancing and Laughing. Each month we'll focus on one aspect, and I'll include a short resource in my emails and for all my workshops we'll be including that healing medicine and learning about how it helps us.

January's healing medicine is Prayer & Writing

The week of the full moon can be a powerful and emotional time for many of us as our Nokomiss Dbik giizis gathers us close to share her teachings. What a wonderful time to spend in reflection and celebration with our creative energies!  Prayer helps us communicate our thoughts either silently or aloud with the mystery that surrounds us in this physical & energetic world.

Writing is a relatively new medicine that helps us to communicate with one another the thoughts and inner energies contained within us all.

What are the ways that you pray? How can your writing help focus and channel your energies toward your highest self?

Dancing, Laughter, Singing are all different ways to pray. ️

The metaphor “Emptying the Cup” implies that our human bodies are physical vessels that contain our spiritual, emotional, and mental energies. I assert that as indigenous beings, subjected to colonization, our vessels have been filled with negative ideals about our indigenous ways of being which has resulted in a fragmented perspective of identity. It is through self-awareness, that we learn how to empty the vessel of these negative, colonial ideals. We re-position ourselves to begin healing by filling our vessel with positive, empowering messages and strategies, through re-integration of our indigenous spiritual practices, belief systems and culture.
